A note from/about our friend Andrew -IMPORTANT

He got a phone call this morning from his dad. Dad is in the VA hospital in Reno, and said the doctors give him "1 to 3 weeks".

Andrew is, understandably, a mess. Please add him and his dad to your prayer chains.

thanks

Short RPO in 1/24

I built this as part of a scratchbuild challenge for another board, but it came out well enough that I thought I'd share it here, too. I started with a pile of odd bits that I'd gotten in trade for other bits. http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp52/steamnut1917/cabeese/P1100020.jpg and a photo (plu...

NCNG-ifying a Kalamazoo boxcar

I got a couple old Kalamazoo boxcars a while back. http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp52/steamnut1917/cabeese/J7.jpg I was just planning on a simple repaint then putting them in service. But the one above arrived a bit worse for wear. On truck was just broken loose, but the other had 'sploded. htt...

Re: And now for something completely different.....

First time I took it anyplace I got a bunch of offers on it. I sold it to a guy who wrote a book on Russells.... If/when I find another brick, I'll build another one.

And now for something completely different.....

A gent on another board sent me an Aristo-Craft power brick (free!), with this directive, "Build something interesting from it." .... http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp52/steamnut1917/critter/P7300002.jpg Hmmmmmm, 'interesting'? How interesting can we get? I looked through my files, considered an...

A backwoods boiler house for beginners

If you can build a basic birdhouse, you can build this. Try it, it's easy, cheap, and rather fun! Plus it's not just your same old, same old.... http://www.the-ashpit.com/mik/P7120009.JPG There are no 'plans' needed... just some simple directions found here: http://www.the-ashpit.com/mik/boilerhouse...

Picnic car

About 8 or 9 years ago a guy in Eastern, Pa was selling a bunch of cheap 'flatcars' and 'gondolas' on feebay. These weren't normal cars. He obviously had gotten a bunch of Bachmann reefers and had done 5 minute bandsaw conversions to them. They were rather awful, but they were less expensive than bu...
