Re: V&T wooden ore cars

Below is my notes and assumptions for the Carson and Colorado (C&C) wooden ore cars I first discovered that the C&C had wooden ore cars while reading Mallory Ferrell’s book Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge published by Pacific Fast Mail in 1982. On pages 44 and 46 of that book are photos showing the C&...

Carter Brothers 15 ton truck

Hi, I am working on a 3D CAD drawing of the Carter Brothers 15 Ton truck. I am happy to share here when done. I am looking for any dimensioned drawings, blueprints and such to help me. I have the 1879 Car Builders Dictionary which has some designs for journals. I also have the photos of the CAD draw...

Re: Eureka Mill RR

Hi Andrew, I have come across some photos on the university of Nevada Reno site (see the links page on PacificNG.com) but no other info to share so far. Most of their photos Mal Ferrell has already used of course. If you are familiar with the Trainz program from Auran there are some topographic layo...

Re: V&T wooden ore cars

Hi Michael, Thank you for your reply. The Car Builders Dictionary (CBD) was a great source. I used it to base my initial sketch as it is the most clear drawing I have found to date. The tip box in the photos I have are largely the same as the CBD design at least as far as I can discern from the pict...

Re: Introduction OR How to make yourself sound important.

Hi Curtis, Sounds like you are having fun in the same area of the hobby I am. Over the past year I have re-acquainted myself with CAD and have been using Sketchup (because it was free) to do some work. Some of the limitations in Sketchup caused me to snoop around for something else but the multi tho...

V&T wooden ore cars

Hi all, I have been researching the wooden ore cars the Virginia and Truckee had used and later narrow gauged for use on the Carson and Colorado branch at Candalaria. Not much seems to be known about them in the historical record. I have been working on collecting info for a few years and finally sa...

My Introduction

Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this board while researching a CAD project I am doing on Carter Brothers 15 Ton trucks in Alibre Design. I just got back today from a little trip my wife and I took to Washoe Valley on the V&T right-of-Way to photograph and measure a couple of the old bridges before they...
