Re: Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

Hi,

Has anyone seen a sunflower stack like this one being offered for sale in 1:20.3? Not holding out much hope but worth asking a group like this. I tried Ozark with no luck.

Re: Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

Futz... might be a bit of work to mask off the striping to get the red out of the driver... maybe visine could get the red out? :)

I agree that 'Bonnet' would be more likely but the poor fellow that wrote out the spec sheet sure made that 'B' look like an 'R'

Thank you for the help,

John

Re: Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

John, Style 69 is essentially style 49, but with the style 2 drivers. A Style 2 driver is the style 1 driver striping without the red "sunburst". The entire driver would be painted the base color of the locomotive. Andrew, does that mean it is all one color (olive green) or is there still some stri...

Re: Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

Thanks Andrew, I believe the Bachmann model is of an 8-18C instead of an 8-22C but with the olive green style 49/69 paint job it should still look good at the head end of the ore cars I plan to build. That is, if I can ever decide on a tip mechanism :) Now to source a few of the parts such as the ir...

Re: Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

so the C&C locos look to originally be style 49 but the spec sheet crosses that out and has 69. I did not see anything in David Fletchers material detailing a style 69. Anyone know the difference between style 49 and 69?

Bachmann 4-4-0 for the Carson and Colorado

Does anyone know if the Bachmann 4-4-0 color scheme "olive green and Russia iron" is accurate (or close) for the Carson and Colorado?

Re: A Little Something We've Been Working On

Jay, We may have found a first! I saw a photo of E&P # 5 on page 98 of Myrick's "Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California" Volume 1 that shows the #5 with a wooden pilot and on page 102 it has an Iron pilot. I note that the engine looks much newer in the page 102 photo so perhaps it came with the ...
