Re: South Pacific Coast Passenger Cars

Randy,

Thanks for the information on the color, I have a caboose that I am going to do in the straw yellow and am glad that the Passenger cars are a wine color.

South Pacific Coast Passenger Cars

Greetings,

I was wondering what color the SPC painted their passenger equipment in the early part of the 1880's?

SP Caboose #401

Greetings, Lets hope I got the right number, the one I am thinking about is the combine that originally had a clerestory roof and then had a flat peaked roof like on a box car. So now on to the question, when it had the clerestory roof and the SP installed the end ladders and platforms. Were these p...

Re: SPC Locomotive Fuel

Thanks to both of you, I was hoping to hear that the primary fuel was wood. The reason for the question is that I am installing RC on my Accucraft SPC #3 and I am planning to hide the installation under the wood load on the tender. I will post photos when I get it done, right now I am cutting and ha...

Here are a couple of more photos, as you can see he found a much better solution for the boiler jacket.

SPC Locomotive Fuel

Greetings, I have a couple of questions, one regarding the SPC locomotive fuel, what did they use in the beginning, wood or coal? I was thinking wood as they had a good supply of it locally. And the second question has nothing to do with the SPC but as long as I am here what the heck, does any one i...

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to grab a copy of the issue, RMC isn't on my usual read list.

You really should get in the habit of reading RMC, there is more on construction, scratch building and such than just about any other magazine in the US.

Re: I'm at it again

It looks like I ordered the wrong book, before I saw your post John I ordered from Amazon "South Pacific Coast, A Centennial " also by Bruce A. MacGregor. I have the other book somewhere in my library but I think I will order a new copy just to save me from going crazy trying to find it. Thanks for ...
