Re: North Shore Railroad Annual Report

I may still have a NS Annual Report stashed away. It's a photocopy I grabbed from the Sonoma County Library years ago. Will see if it survived the fire and scan it. I don't know what year it was.

Re: White's Hill tunnels

A couple items: 1) Years ago when I was trying to fit Dickenson's map to the region of White's Hill in G-E, I had a heck of a time "rubber sheeting" it to fit. BTW, that's a surveying term for making aerial images fit the ground should anyone want to know...and it's really appropriate for image over...

Re: North Shore Equipment and Siding list 1905

First off an important credit correction, Andrew Brandon found the E-Bay posting, not I! Credit where it's due.... SPC Cars probably shouldn't be in the book yet. They're purchased in 1906 as I recall. The box car in the image...passenger trucks!?! Too bad there's no date associated with the image a...

Re: A Little Something We've Been Working On

Here's some additional images of parts associated with this project. Essentially, the ideas was to make a "West Coast" version of the old Kodama 8-18c (Class 42 for the Colorado modelers). The specific locomotives being modeled from are "Sonoma" at CSRM and Eureka (Dan Markoff's baby). What's really...

Re: Pacific Coast NG WIP

John, Well just go ahead and delete pretty much everything I'd done! Your work is fantastic. I won't get an opportunity to look at anything related to the Pacific Coast till after the weekend. Trying to get the Porter section started (as well as being booked solid with work and chores). I will try t...

Re: Pacific Coast NG WIP

John, I haven't had a chance to try storing the file on site yet! Got a tad busy plus had to reformat my computer (still sorting through all the back-up files). I won't be able to do anything this weekend, out of town. PCRY-PacificNG.com Map.kmz Here's the file. Have fun with it! I'll see what we ca...

Re: Cable Car builders

Randy, I don't have a date. I know they had properties all over the city. I'll try to contact my uncle, he may remember...he's the family repository of these things. He's much like you....you'd go nuts over the crap he's got stashed away. I've asked him to find the old photo albums, they stretch bac...

Re: Cable Car builders

OK, started doing some quick Google searches: Cities with cable car systems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cable_car_(railway) (Here's the list, on the Wiki entry many are links). Australia Cable tram and trailer on the St Kilda Line in Melbourne in 1905.Melbourne (1885–1940, the Melbourne cable tram...

Re: Nate Shugars, RIP

I'll miss Nate! Nate was THE happy, smiling person that hooked me into the SPCRR at Railfair in Sac. He talked me into helping out in the "This Old Flatcar" Project dissassembling and referbishing a truck. I also found myself teaching a group of kids how to straighten iron on a forge where I learned...

Re: Baldwin Class 8-18D list of drawings?

It's possible some of us have some of the drawings. Do you have any Card Numbers? Baldwin had a wild method for cross referencing loco classes, orders, and parts drawings. Of the 130+ drawings I have, nearly all have a table. If you have a card number there's a list of critical dimensions used in th...
