Visiting an old friend in Cananea

Since I lobbied to have a Central America/Mexico catagory, I thought Id share pics of a few recent trips south of the border: After four years of negotiations, letters and emails (I even offered the guard at the gate $50! to take a few pics) I was given permission to visit the site of the Cananea Co...

Re: Lima Locomotive Works - Rod engine question.

John-Thanks for sharing the insight. I dont have any firsthand experience working with steam locomotives, so I can only rely on secondhand accounts, which are never as good as a firsthand source.

Re: Mexico as a topic ??

There is a group called "South of the Border" that has info on railroads in latin America, and another called Mexlist that focuses more on modern stuff. Both sites have great people, but Id love to have a Mexico section, there is some great railroading down there that we tend to ignore. Having said ...

Re: Baldwin Specification sheets

I did find one ( Moctezuma Copper #4) but it was about 12 pages from where it should have been. The data sheets on the Canan...

Re: Baldwin Specification sheets

Thanks for sharing this info-I've dealt with the DeGoyler Library a few times, and they have always been helpful. Is anyone else having trouble finding the locomotives they are looking for?

Re: Lima Locomotive Works - Rod engine question.

This is a very interesting topic: I've always read that Lima were more of a high end product, but have never seen information on cost when new and how they compare. Any idea of the cost of a Lima narrow gauge when new?

Re: Apache Powder Co.

I think Larry Hargis wrote about the fireless Porters they used, but I don't know what it said about the railroad itself. a quick search showed that it was in the Jan/feb 2001 NG & SLG

Another mystery narrow gauge picture:

Does anyone recognize this location or railroad? I picked it up on ebay, and it is a copy of a copy, so it is hard to tell. That "buy it now" button is going to kill me!
