Suppliers for Carter Bros. trucks and such?
Suppliers for Carter Bros. trucks and such?
I've seen Carter style 15ton & 10ton trucks in Sn3, On3, On30 (On2.5), 1:20.3 (45mm G Gauge) and 1:24 (what gauge is this? Custom 1.50" gauge track?)
Who are the suppliers and what is available in the way of Carter Brothers trucks and car detail parts, and in what scales/gauges?
Basically, is there a list somewhere of suppliers for trucks and detail parts for modeling western narrow gauge equipment?
Reading about the modeling projects going on in this forum gets me worked up and thinking about building a real model, as opposed to a 3D CAD Virtual one.
Thank you for your time,
Curtis F.

1.24 scale is the original 1/2" scale. Russ Simpson was the one who had a huge supply of parts for this scale. 1.20 is Fn3 scale.

Curtis,
I like the idea of a supplier list! I often dig for obscure details myself and such a list would be helpful I think. If someone were to compile a list I can drop it under the modeling section.

Were his products for 45mm or 1.5" gauge? Did anyone take over his product line?
Thanks,

Re: Suppliers for Carter Bros. trucks and such?
Suppliers I know about include:
On3-On30:
Foothill Models http://www.foothillmodelworks.com/ who sells Doug MacLeod's West Coast NG parts which are the absolute best out there. Doug's site (you can also by direct from him) is: http://www.macleodwestern.com/.
He's got about a dozen trucks, covers the Carters 10-15 Ton, West Side, and others. A great line of parts for the freight rolling stock and appliances for locos too. When I need parts for On3, Doug's are my first choice, then I fill in with other manufacturers.
HOn3:
Rio Grande http://www.riograndemodels.com/index.htm. Has West Side trucks, as good as I've seen for HOn3 stand-ins.
1:20.3:
Hartford. http://shop.hartfordproducts.com/catego ... egoryId=56. These are just about as close as you can get to building a truck from the ground up! Represent a 10-15 Ton Carter. I still have one pair. Worth getting just to build and display if you don't model this scale. Same goes for the NG Pullman Trucks!
Periodically I've seen all the above at hobby shops. I get them directly from the above links since so few shops carry NG stuff these days in my region.
