Upcoming site changes, news and you!

Gallery Changes
In the coming few months expect the image gallery to no longer open in a new window, instead the gallery will behave similar to the forum does now. The gallery will become more integrated into the site, this change means the dark brown color scheme will be going away. I know a few people had commented that it was hard to read, I'll be working to resolve this fully and provide a simpler, effective gallery in its place. Expect bugs, I'll try to work out as many as I find.

More Gallery Changes
You may have noticed the gallery has been restructured, this will likely be the final general structure. Moving the railroads into groups by state should help with the brows-ability of the thing. We apologize for the mess, the gallery is it's own monster. ;)

Bruce MacGregor forwarded us three views of the Sierra Valley & Mohawk which are now in the gallery. Click To Visit.

Mike Massee was kind enough to provide 14 images of Yellow Aster Mining Company #3 in Randsburg. Thanks Mike!

David Fletcher, as some of you may have read, alerted us to the availability of Baldwin spec sheets online. Those of you that looked at the site will have noticed the large file size of these images, I have downloaded all of the archives into my own storage drive. Those of you looking for a specific sheet don't be afraid to drop me a private message with your request and I will fill it as time allows. If you're looking for a specific locomotive relevant to the site, don't worry we'll be getting those up online in time.

A number of various locomotives are available in the gallery. Explore!

Forum Posts With Images
If you're linking to an off-site image, you'll likely encounter the same trouble as Mik has. Depending on the size of the image, it might not scale correctly into the forum, I will be resolving this the next time I update the forum software.

Future Site Additions
David Fletcher has given us permission to post a number of his locomotive illustrations from the Narrow Gauge Down Under magazine. These color illustrations of Baldwin export locomotives will help illustrate various Baldwin styles that you've heard mentioned in his article or on the spec sheets.

Our list of book and news references for roads listed and unlisted on the site is growing exponentially, much of these news articles will not be available until later this year. Why? We'll be putting together a search able newspaper database. For those of you that have searched through historic papers online are aware, the text recognition can be amusing. Many of us have been transcribing those articles, those transcriptions and link to source article will be part of the database. You'll hear more about this in the future.

Finally: Expect a few surprises in the period paint section in the coming week.

Until Next Time!
Andrew
