Death Valley RR

A place to hook up for road trips, plan them, grab driving partners.

A place to brag about the trip and expound on the drinking capacity and silly things the other guy did, tell fish stories, and such.

Moderator's note: We hold no responsibility for thin skins, embarrassing stories, and hurt feelings here. We won't tell your coworkers or significant others. Enjoy, laugh, and hold no grudges!

Andrew and I have a trip to Death Valley planned late next month... chasing ghosts... Reports suggest we will find some.

I asked a friend who was a ranger in Death Valley some years ago about the boiler in the Amargosa Opera House basement and she seemed to indicate it was still there. Is there any truth to this?

I've always wanted to check out Death Valley, Let me know when you get a date you are going and I may be able to sneak away from the office for a day or two.

The plan is 24-26 of April... but there are (proverbial) storm clouds on the horizon and the trip is in question...

Postby Randy Hees » Sun Mar 24, 2013 7:36 am

Our trip to Death Valley has begun... Andrew and I, accompanied by Steph and Lisa have reached Bishop... Today we will introduce the women to the joy that is Keeler... I am blogging about it... http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID ... 5363884594

The camp ground claims to have wifi... if so expect regular updates and even a picture or two...

We have finished our quest.... Andrew and I and he ladies.... (Steph, aka the daughter, and Liza, aka the friend...) visited DVRR No 2 in Furnace Creek... and drove the right of way... but the right of way is a difficult drive, and we never made New Ryan.... the Wednesday Morning… Bugging out… includes details...

The Furnace Creek loco (DVRR 2) is spectacular... maybe the most complete loco in a park...
