Not exactly a road trip, but several of us (Randy, Andrew, & Craig) are visiting the North Western Pacific Historical Society Library and Archives facility on Saturday May 3rd... http://www.nwprrhs.org/library.html
We will likely visit their restoration facility (no narrow gauge, but three 19th century wooden cars, a caboose, a coach, and a baggage under restoration)
Finally, Lagunitas brewery http://lagunitas.com/taproom/ is next door to the library...

Re: Library day in Petaluma
End of day report... three of us (Andrew, Craig and Randy) spend the day at the NWP Library and archives... We found a number of photos of interest... two of caboose NWP 5591, three of NCNG cars being prepared for shipment to Hawaii....
We looked at a map of the Sonoma Valley... at timetables for Sonoma Valley...
We looked at pictures and pictures and pictures...
Mid day we had lunch (with beer) at Lagunitas... We declared this to be the annual board meeting of Pacificng...
We will announce more excursions and research days in the future...

Re: Library day in Petaluma
And what did the board decide on...beyond the beer and scenery being attractive?
The historical society's new digs are quite nice, everything's far more accessible that the old facility at Sonoma State from quite a few years ago. They have a great crew cataloging the collection as well. Lots of treasures they keep discovering.
Between the library and Lagunitas, a great combo.

The photos of the NCNG cars for the Navy were terrific! Thanks to all three of you for keeping the Islands in mind.
