Pacificng in Washington DC...

A place to hook up for road trips, plan them, grab driving partners.

A place to brag about the trip and expound on the drinking capacity and silly things the other guy did, tell fish stories, and such.

Pacificng in Washington DC...

Post by Randy Hees » Sun Mar 15, 2015 9:49 pm

Andrew and I, accompanied by my daughter Steph, and Andrew's lovely Liza are heading for Washington DC in the next week...

On the agenda...

Early, before Andrew and Liza arrive Steph and I want to look at the Brill records at the Pennsylvania Historical Society, and a Sherwin Williams paint book at the Philadelphia Atheneum... (we will visit the Liberty Bell, the Rodan Museum, the Reading Market (named for the railroad) and find a cheesesteak) then after Andrew and Liza show up, the Library of Congress, the National Archive (Andrew is pulling maps for the SP at Towle and several other NG junctions, I am after DVRR ICC reports) and the Smithsonian... (they have libraries full of trade literature) If I have time there are Navy records to look at...

We are willing to consider research requests...

I returned home with 25GB worth of photographs to sort through. We were able to see a number of trade catalogs including: Plymouth, Vulcan, Kilburn & Jacobs, Western Wheeled Scraper, Koppel and more. I am still not where to even begin in sorting it all.

In the meantime, here is a preview of some of our finds:
