2 1/2" scale NPC 21
"The Freak" should be completed by the and of 2014 or sooner if I can keep the funds coming in. I found a builder who will build an electric outline for me with sound smoke, etc. I decided on electric outline because I don't want to spend an hour or longer to fire up and bring it to operating pressure, then blow down and cooling time before loading it back on the trailer. Besides my wife can get on and run it right away as well. I have blown up the drawings from "Narrow Gauge to the Redwoods" and it will be nearly 14 feet long! When finish with the down payment I am told It can be built in 6 months. I'll post some pics of the plans when I get the copy of the plans out of storage.

Before committing to the "NG to the Redwoods" drawings there are better illustrations to work from.
The Freak is a hell of a project!
I'm digging through my computer and disks, I've got a bunch of it somewhere.
Try:
http://www.aqpl43.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/ ... /NPC21.htm
There are Patent docs. available on-line.
The easiest to locate were on a site called Ironhorse129. Unfortunately the site's gone!
Dwight Inness has done a very nice model (1:20.3).

Here's an updated page with some documentation:
http://www.pacificng.com/template.php?p ... /index.htm
More will be added as we relocate files, images, and the like.
Here's an example. It is part of a several view set that includes tender and backhead.

That's really weird about ironhorse129.com as I was just on it within the last two weeks and it was still there. Maybe Tom simply forgot to renew the domain name and it will be back.
Dave, I believe I may have already been in contact with you via email. At any rate, the best drawings of #21 are the ones in "Narrow Gauge to the Redwoods." All others I've found - in the Gazette, online, and the one Craig just posted above from "Those Amazing Cab Forwards" are full of innaccuracies, particularly where the Ogee curves of the cab roof are concerned, or in the case of the cross-section just posted, in terms of steam collection (not that this matters for your purposes). Other faults of the other drawings are the width of the running boards aft of the steps, the air pipe plumbing, and various and sundrey other problems.
Best of luck on your "creation" and please - post pictures!!
