Here answering a question from our PacificNG Facebook page...

It was a 3' gauge operation. According to some reports it was the continuation of the California Powder works above Santa Cruz (that plant served by a branch off the South Pacific Coast, powered by horses shod with brass shoes to prevent sparks.)
