Unusual Rail Formation

Post by Jeff Livingston » Mon Jul 09, 2012 9:34 am

While visiting the derelict 0-4-0 Porter locomotive "Pauko" up in Waikele Gulch here on Oahu we came upon a stack of six rails bent like a question mark. The locomotive was abandoned at the site of the "Dillingham Quarry" which ceased operations prior to World War 2. Since these bends are obviously not accidental and there are six of them they must be for some specific use. Perhaps someone framiliar with mine or quarry operations will recognise them. Could they be wheel stops for tipper cars?
