My question regarding who may have built some particular boxcars for Pearl Harbor has generated another question, actually many but just one for now. Where did the military use narrow gauge in the continental United States and territories? Most, if not all naval shipyards, naval stations and naval ammunition depots had their own rail systems, how many were narrow gauge? What about the Army? Everything military in Hawaii was narrow gauge with the exception of the coaling plant at Pearl. Hill AFB had narrow gauge, Ft. Benning had 60cm. Anybody know of others?
Extensive use of 60cm equipment on lines to supply the trenches in WWI in 1917/18, following the examples of the Germans, French, British. Obviously not a territorial usage, but a very large system during the war.
