Hi,

I've missed some days of monitoring the forum. I've been (and still am) involved with maters related to the health, etc. of an elderly relation.

I placed the late running Fall, 2012 issue of the Journal in the mail yesterday. Our insert "Switch List" carries an announcement of the dates and hotel were using in Tonopah:
We’re off (the line) to Tonopah — the silver mining camp that changed the Carson & Colorado
The 2013 annual conference and annual meeting of the Society will be held in Tonopah, Nevada, May 2 (Thursday) through May 4 (Saturday). Plan to arrive early afternoon on Thursday for an afternoon activity and then for the usual evening “meet and greet.” Then depart Sunday morning for home with possible additional right-of-way explorations on the way.

Believe it or not this was the only weekend where there were no other activities going on in Tonopah from mid April to Mid June. It is a busy little town.

Plans are being made to finalize the event schedule, registration fee and registration form. We are planning visits to the Central Nevada Museum, the Historic Mining Park and to nearby Goldfield and explorations of the nearby desert.

Details are being finalized and we hope to be mailing registration information to our members within a couple of weeks. We will post information up on our website. I'll make further announcements here.

Still working on the details and no registration form yet.

But, now that the membership has had an opportunity to act (or react) here is more of the notice sent out with the Journal:
Because Tonopah is half-way between Reno and Las Vegas it has a variety of motels and hotels. We explored these and found the best to be:
    TONOPAH STATION
    1137 S. Main St.
    Tonopah
    715-482-9777
We have blocked a group of rooms (singles, doubles, and a handicap room) at a rate of $59.50 per night. When making your reservation say you are with the "SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD."

The Tonopah Station has meeting rooms, a restaurant, bar-lounge, a casino and an RV park. More information about the hotel can be found at
More information about Tonopah can be found at the town’s website:
It has a page devoted to the Hotels and Motels in town:

Registration form is expected to mailed out this week and we'll announce and post it on line at that time.

Thanks for waiting.
