Introduction

This forum is for the coordination of the Golden Spike project for Trainz. The goal is a reproduction of the Promontory Summit location as of noon, May 10, 1869 in the Trainz railroad simulator. With any luck; we'll be done by the 150th anniversary of the event in just under a year.

Re: CP combination cars

Thanks, Andrew - I guess I'll go with a red, then. If evidence shows up of yellow somewhere, I'll just do a second version.

CPRR combination cars

So, I was going to repaint my V&T combination car into CP colors, but I wasn't sure what color to use. I was leaning toward the same yellow ochre color as the V&T cars, but I wasn't sure if anyone had any better information? Reasons for the yellow: 1: It's what the CP painted the V&T cars when they ...

Early UPRR Caboose

I've started work on an early UP caboose. From photos, it appears similar to the V&T cabooses 9 and 10, so I started with that model. Here is a progress shot; I think I'm getting close (other than the trucks) ..... In a brown color: http://carsoncarshops.com/images/web/up_caboose_wip_3_sm.png and a ...

Re: Early UPRR Flat Cars

Thanks for the information, Randy! I've also started work on a caboose, but I'll put that in a separate thread - after I repaint it in Tuscan :)

Re: Modeling Promitory May 10, 1869

I have drawings of the CP Director's car - at least once it arrived on the V&T. I suspect I could hack existing drawings of Lincon's car to change the window configuration. Are drawings available of any of the other cars?

Re: Modeling Promitory May 10, 1869

This would be a fun Trainz project, also. What Kyle mentioned - 'the other trains and cars that both railroads had at Promontory that day' would be fun; we don't often hear of that.....

Re: 19th Century Coach Drawings.

Hi Dusten,

Putting 'ET&WNC' into the model railroad magazine index located at http://www.olimpia.com:8084/magazine-index.html brings up a list of articles, some of which mention coaches, combines, or cabooses /w plans.

Sounds like a fun project!

Re: V & T / C & C common combination depots

Thanks Randy. I was leaning toward keeping both windows, but it seemed a little odd. Thank you for the confirmation!
