			Until March 1910, locomotives used in passenger service were lettered "Denver & Rio Grande" in large block letters across the tenders and locomotives in freight service had large roman numbers on the tender with only reporting marks "D&RG" on the cab and rear of the tender. In March all locomotives still lettered with the block roadname began to be repainted with only the large roman numbers in orange on the tender sides, identical to freight locomotives.
